Associate Teacher Openings for the 2013-2014 School Year: K-6th Grade Positions Available.
The Associate Teacher Program was designed to provide a second teacher in the classrooms of Cold Spring School and to allow the school and its personnel the opportunity to offer a beginning teaching experience to new entrants into the field. It is designed to be a good training and learning experience for new teachers as well as some support for our Master Teachers in the classroom, the opportunity for creative collaboration, and coverage for Long Day.
There are several Associate Teacher openings for the 2013-2014 school year, in grades kindergarten through 6th grade. Associate Teacher responsibilities include the following:
§ Help to develop the curriculum.
§ Work with the Master Teacher to implement guidelines for behavior in the classroom and to foster each child’s social growth. Share with the Master Teacher any significant situations with children that come up when the Master Teacher is not present.
§ Work closely with the parents of the students and keep the Master Teacher informed of communications with parents.
§ Participate in short and long range planning in science, social studies, language arts, and mathematics.
§ Contribute to the life of the Cold Spring School community by attending faculty meetings, open houses and other school activities.
§ Eight hour daily schedule, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
§ Plan and conduct activities for extended day program, including time for snack, time outdoors whenever possible, and time to work on homework for children in grades 4-6.
