Events and Traditions

Sometimes a picture does convey a thousand words. Every year we hold events and practice traditions that create life-long memories for Cold Spring students and families. Click on an event to see what we do at Cold Spring, relive the moment or reminisce a bit.

30th Anniversary Celebration & Auction(view gallery)

Every other year the Cold Spring community comes together to throw a party with a purpose: a benefit auction to help underwrite the school’s generous tuition assistance program. This year we also celebrated Cold Spring’s 30th anniversary as well as the 25th teaching years of faculty Penny Serafin and Karen Zwick.

In early April students, parents and Cold Spring staff gather to welcome spring during a morning of planting and clean up. We get a lot done while having fun too.

In keeping with a long-standing tradition, each sixth grader chose a younger student from the Cold Spring School community to be the person handing the diploma to the new graduate.

Egg Drop (view gallery)

The annual Egg Drop is a long-standing Cold Spring tradition. Every spring, students in the 4/5 classes investigate the life cycle of a chicken, from egg to hatchling. Just as a protective sack within the eggshell protects the growing embryo, students build their own protective devices designed to withstand being dropped four stories into the Preschool play yard. Eggciting and Eggstraordinary!

Jog-a-Thon (view gallery)
The Jog-a-Thon is a biannual event that brings the entire Cold Spring community together for fun and fundraising for financial aid. This year 300 students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni turned out to run, walk, and jog 1,544 laps around the Criscuolo Park ball field.
