Writing
Students at Cold Spring School write every day. The young child learns that words are connected to speech and ideas. As they become developmentally ready, they are introduced to a more formal Writing Workshop, where they learn to write with purpose, clarity, and a sense of audience. The mechanics of writing and the expression of ideas are addressed separately. Children learn to express their thoughts and ideas on paper through exposure to a variety of genre and writing techniques. Additionally, our classrooms are designed by the teachers to display a richness of print that echoes and emphasizes the pervasiveness of printed matter.
