Writing non-fiction is one of several process skills that are emphasized in our thematic approach to social studies and science. Student incorporate research skills and are encouraged to select their own topics to study, often within the framework of a broad or specific thematic study. Students progress from short pieces of non-fiction, often with their own illustrations, to more complex reports that incorporate data as well as narrative writing.
